Meet Our Staff
Gail M D Belvett, DDS
Dr. Belvett has been a practicing dentist in the Triad/Triangle area since 2004. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada; she received a DDS degree (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, one of the top dental schools in the country. Dr. Belvett then completed a hospital residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York, NY.
Each year she continues with advanced education in clinical courses to keep her technical skills current with the latest dental technologies. Most recently, Dr. Belvett is currently in a year-long dental implant course. In 2013, Gail was appointed to the Durham County Hospital Corporation Board of Trustees for Durham (now Duke) Regional Hospital and in 2014, she was named chair of the Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Committee. Gail is a member of the Old North State Dental Society and is past chair of Old North State Mentor Program. The mission of the latter is to aid in the matriculation of current and aspiring minority dental students through the ECU & UNC Dental Programs. Since 2014, Southpoint Family Dentistry practice partnered with Partners for Youth Opportunity of Durham to be a job-based/professional mentor and provide paid internships for Durham high school students.
Chris Mazilu, Dental Hygienist
Hello my name is Chris Mazilu and I am a registered dental hygienist here at Southpoint family dentistry and I’ve been a member since April, 2017.
During my free time I like to spend time with my family: wife (Tonia), son (Timmy), and daughter (Annie). I have an Associate’s degree in dental hygiene from a California private school named, San Joaquin Valley College. I enjoy working with people, and I strive to provide the highest quality dental hygiene services each and every day.
Renee Leathers, Assistant
Hi, I'm Renee one of the newest members of the team. I am a dental assistant. I have been a member of this team since January, 2017. My job is to assistant the doctor in providing safe and efficient dental treatment, etc.
During my free time I love spending time with my husband and three beautiful daughters, and also reading books. I have an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences, and I have one year of experience in a sedation dental office prior to working for Dr.Belvett. I enjoy calming patients down that are nervous or have dental anxiety.
Barb Colling, Insurance/AR Specialist
Hi, my name is Barb and I am the Insurance/AR Specialist here at Southpoint Family Dentistry and I've been a member since July, 2014. My job is to fill insurance claims and process the account receivable for the practice.
During my free time I like to go to hockey games with my son, and enjoying outdoors. I've been in this field for 21 years, and I enjoy working in the dental environment. I love meeting new people, working in the front when I get a chance, and overall I’m really good at my job! I have a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, I know that has nothing to do with dentistry but I enjoy doing this way better. I was born in a small town Upstate New York, and I've been in North Carolina for 25 years. Believe it or not I hate the cold!
Sade Liles, Financial Coordinator
Hello, I am Dr.Belvett’s Financial Coordinator, I do it all! I've had the pleasure of working with Dr.Belvett when she first started the practice in 2008, and then returned in 2012. After graduating early from high school I developed an interest in billing and coding, and became certified in 2006.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, and shoe shopping. Dr.Belvett, staff, and the patients are always a pleasure to work with.
Kijuana Bowman, Receptionist
Hello, my name is Kijuana (pronounced Kiana), I am a receptionist, I joined the team September, 2016. My job consists of calling patients for various reasons: schedule appointments, verify insurance, and answer any inquiries. I've been in the dental field since I was 19 years old and 13 year later I still have the same love and passion for this kind of work.
During my free time I like to write poetry, listen to music, and play with my three beautiful daughters. I was born in Germantown, Maryland and moved to North Carolina in 2009. I am a certified dental assistant, and have some college experience. I originally wanted to be a Hygienist, so I love being in the dental environment and helping people.
Cierra Roscoe, Receptionist Assistant
Hello my name is Cierra, and I am an assistant to the receptionist. I've been a member of this team since September, 2016. I coordinate the social media for the practice and help Dr.Belvett with several special projects.
During my free time I like to spend time with my handsome baby boy, friends and just relax. This is my first time working in an environment like this and I absolutely love it. I'm constantly learning new things and doing different tasks, which help enhance my knowledge and keeps me engaged. I am 20 years old; I have a high school diploma and some college experience. I will forever be thankful for Dr.Belvett giving me this opportunity.
