Meet Our Staff

Dr. Gail Belvett, DDS

Dr. Belvett has been a practicing dentist in the Triad/Triangle area since 2004. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada; she received a DDS degree(Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, one of the top dental schools in the country. Dr. Belvett then completed a hospital residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York, NY.

Each year she continues with advanced education in clinical courses to keep her technical skills current with the latest dental technologies. Most recently, Dr. Belvett has completed a year-long dental implant course. Dr. Belvett is an active member of the North Carolina Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Old North State Dental Society.
 

Shannon Huff, Treatment Coordinator/Account Administrator

Hi, I am the scheduling coordinator and the insurance specialist. I have been a member of our team since the opening of our new office in October 2008. In my free time, I enjoy being outside and spending time with my family and friends. I have always had the need to help others, and being a part of Southpoint Family Dentistry has helped me do so. I attended college in my hometown of Person County and Piedmont Community College and also in Durham at Durham Technical Community College. I would one day like to further my occupation by managing a medical facility. I hope to see you soon!

Nakeesha Hardison, Fronk Desk Receptionist

Hello, I am honored to be one of the newest members as the Front Desk Receptionist here at Southpoint Family Dentistry. In my free time I cherish spending time with my children and my family. I am a proud mother of a 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter. I consider Norfolk, VA & Jones County, NC my home. I attended Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina Central and attended classes at Durham Technical Community College. I have always loved working and helping people. I truly enjoy working with Dr. Belvett and the team. I already understood the importance of having regular dental exams, but was not aware of all the technical procedures within Dentistry. I love the idea that here at Southpoint Family Dentistry, you are not treated as just an employee or patient, but Dr. Belvett ensures that you feel at home!

Janet Variano, Scheduling Coordinator/Insurance Specialist

Ciao, I am the Scheduling Coordinator and Insurance Specialist at Southpoint Family Dentistry. I have been here since November 2009 but it feels like I have been here longer. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and going to church. I love singing and am very into fashion. I first started working in the health services last year as the Billing Assistant/ Medical Records Clerk at a mental health agency. Even though I have always been a people person, working here has given me an even greater opportunity to help and encourage them that coming to the dentist isn't such a bad thing. :) I love it!

Jeanna Raye, Hygienist

Hello, I am one of the dental hygienists here at Southpoint Family Dentistry. I have been a member of our team since February 2009. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside or at the gym. I also love animals and music. I have had lots of experience as a dental hygienist, having previously worked on a mobile dental unit which traveled to schools and outlying areas and in a hospital based dental clinic. I enjoy helping patients feel at ease and comfortable in the dental setting. I moved to the area from the western part of the state and love the diversity and varied opportunities that are available here!

Kristi Deeley, Hygienist

Hi, my name is Kristi and I am one of the dental hygienists at Southpoint Family Dentistry. I have been with the practice for about 3 months and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Dr. Belvett, her staff and patients! I attended dental hygiene school and UNC's School of Dentistry and graduated in 2009. Before attending hygiene school, I was a dental assistant at a pediatric dental office. I have always enjoyed being a caregiver and I love helping people. I found that dentistry is a great environment to help people with their oral, as well as overall health, and get to know them at the same time. I am a mother to a 3 year old little boy. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching football and hockey, and I love the summer time!

Amber Johnson, Assistant

Hi, I'm Amber. I am one of the newest team members here at Southpoint Family Dentistry. I've had my career in Dentistry since 2005 and I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. Of course that means I'm a True-Blue Tarheel. I'm from a rural part of Chatham County, NC. When I'm not at the office helping Dr. Belvett create beautiful smiles, I like to spend time with family, friends and my church family. I also enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, all sports and being outside. I love making patients feel comfortable when they come to the dentist and getting to know them. I genuinely enjoy going to work with Dr. Belvett and the rest of the team, everyday!

Lizzareli Aleman, Assistant

Hola, I am one of Dr. Belvett's Dental Assistants here at Southpoint Family Dentistry. I am bilingual and the Spanish translator for our team since June 2009. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love music and singing. I started working in the dental field about two years ago at a dental office in Henderson, and loved it! That's how I became interested in dentistry. I started off as a receptionist in the front office and slowly worked my way in becoming a dental assistant.
